Adam Canfield of the Slash by
Quinn T. and Colin C.
"Adam Canfield of the Slash" is a fictional story that was exciting at points and also dull at points. We rated this story two and a half stars out of 5. The overprogrammed Adam Canfield narrates the story. I would recommend this story to anyone who is into reporting and exciting adventures. The Story is never eye catching, but it is an exciting book in some points. The book could have had a better beginning chapter that would grab the readers better.
Adam Canfield of the Slash by Tori C., Steven S. and Hans
We gave Adam Canfield the Slash, four stars. The characters were detailed, the story line was fantastic, but the plot was not sensational. There could have been more intense drama. The characters are faced with accomodations when the zoning department decides to tear down the towns basketball hoops. Adam, Jennifer, and their newspaper committee wrote an article about the conflict and it caused a lot of commotion around their town. This book is a good book for teenagers that have conflicts or problems with teachers because they would be able to relate. All the characters in the story share similar problems, some with each other and some with regular everyday life but in the end, everything works out. You should definatly read this book.
Code Talker: A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two by Eleanor H.
Code Talker was one of the best books I have ever read...it is full of emotion, humor, and the bitterness of the shattered innonence of actual young men. A satisfying read; I recommend it entirely.
Code Talker: A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two by Nate R.
I gave Code Talker 3 stars because it was a good story. I liked it because I wanted to know what happened next. It was kind of strange how they punished the indians. I like how the book was based on a real events. I would be happy if I could be a marine but it wasn't normal for the Navajo's. It was adventurous because he had never been out across the ocean to war. It was interesting to see the war through the Navajo's eyes. If your interested in WorldWar 2 I would recomend this book.
Crooked River by Alec F., Amber R., and Sarah B.
Crooked River was an interesting book. Our group gave this book three stars because the book didn't grasp our attention fully at the beginning. This whole story is about hostile white people that try to frame an indian. Crooked River is very captivating towards the end of the book and is very hard to put down. The book is very is very intersting at the end because you want to know if the girl will choose to save the indian or let him die.
Crooked River by Lexus G. and Josh H.
We gave Crooked River for stars for its demonstraition of racisim against indians and the exciting drama. This book was also given for stars because some of the things in the book are the same things we deal with in reality.Like the trial of Indian john.People justed assummed that since he was and indian he must have killed tha trapper. That wouuld be an example of racism against indians. The exciting drama in the book also had to do with family problems and community problems. poeple said bad things about the indian when there were other poeple who thought the opposite about the indian. Things consurning family problems had to do with Reb, Laura and her father and brothers.
Defiance by Jack S., Anthony T. and Jimmy S.
Our Group had the privlege of readin the book Defiance. This book inspired us in many ways. Its very very hard to describe in this paragraph. We are soo greatfulf that we arent sick with cancer like toby. In the book Defiance This kid named Toby had great hope and faith and he fought cancer hard and he didnt really have any close friends to support him. Toby becomes friends with an old lady that played the cello and accordian and was a poet that had aton of poetry in her trashy house. They both get very close and hang out and help each other all day and everyday. Toby also becomes friends with Pearl's (old lady) cow Blossom. Blossom was all scared up from gettin beat by her old owner that pearl stole blossom from.
Defiance by Kassie P. and Samantha D.
The book (Defiance) was a really good book. Defiance has great details and is ocasionally sad. Toby was a very kind person and was kind to everyone and everything. It was sad because Toby might of died of cancer so he became friends with an old lady and a cow (Blossom) whom both gave him the courage to go on. Blossom was too dieing but Toby didn't want his very protective parents to find out that he had a lump on his side. We gave this book 31/2 stars.
Drums, Girls, & Dangerous Pie by Eleanor H.
Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie is good for both guys and girls. For guys, it is something they can relate to, and for girls it is an interesting look on a guy's perspective! After reading this, it was hard to accept that the characters aren't real. I recognize so much in this guy, like I see every day in my guy friends.
East by Brady F., Matt H. and Loreli H.
Our group approved the book East because the book was abundent with adventure. You really had to pay attention to the chapters though because they start to become confusing. Our group gave East a four star rating because of the confusing chapters. The tension and the climatic scenes make up for the confusion. We would recommend this book to jr. high to highschool.
East by Eleanor H.
East is a poetic and brilliantly written tale of a girl, who, like many girls her age, are uncertain and feel deceived about their path in life. Even though it followed a fairy tale pattern, this story was unique and incredible. Sorry, other books, but this is my vote.
Listening for Lions by Desi M., Tiffany M. and Markie P
Our group gave Listening for Lions one star because it had no action or excitement. The chapters were long and the writers kept going on about the same thing. Our group didnt quite get the meaning for the story while we were reading the it, but towards the end we soon got it. This book is more for an eight grader because they would understand it better. Listening For Lions gets confusing at some points in the story. Especially when she goes from Africa to Stasway and then back to Africa. In this book the character Rachel was a very an audcity mtoto. She also had many wasiwasi in this story.
Listening for Lions by
Kasey H. and Courtney B.
We liked this book because it showed SHAMBA and CHIVARLY. We both liked the fact that Rachel wasn't in just one place. She was in Africa and England. We didn't like the fact that the author used Valarie Pritchard as Rachel's name. This book showed a lot of adventure. We gave this book a three and a half out of five.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by
Rachel N., Ashlee S., and Caytlin C.
We thought that The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane was a very good book we thought that it tells about how so many people can love one thing {the rabbit} and we thought this book could be read from anywhere from 5grade and on up and it's a very interesting book and it is aslo kind of sad in parts, for example it was sad when a little girl who was really sick, loves this bunny (edward) but her dad says it not gonna mmake a difference and puts it down all the time. But in all it tells a moral but i'll let you figure that out your self. you shoulsdefinitly stick with this book yoou might seem bored at first but then you won't beable to put this book down.

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
by Erin G., Maddie R., and Shanna S.
Our group gave our book The Penderwicks 4starst. We gave our book 4 stars because any aged boy or girl could read this because it is so intresting. Also the Penderwicks is adventerous because Batty got saved by the dog because the bull was running after her. The bull was running after her like a wacho. The dog hit the hindquarters of the bull. We ssuffest you read this book and you won't be able to put it down.
The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
by Sarah B. and Stephanie F.
The book that we are reading is called "The Penderwicks". We gave this book 4 stars. The book was very exciting and fun to read. There is always something adventurous happening in every chapter of the book and you never know what will happen next. For example, in one of the chapters the four sisters are invited to a birthday party for their new friend, Jeffrey, and his mother,Mrs.Tifton, is a very rude and selfish person who doesn't like any of the sisters. The birthday party might end up being a disaster or it could turn out to go great and a lot might end up happening that you didn't expect, but you won't find out until you continue reading. That is the best part because you are actually eager to see what will happen. We enjoyed reading this book and recommend it for 5th graders and older. "The Penderwicks" is a great book to read and we believe that you will enjoy it too.
Princess Academy by Aidan C., Kiley C. and Claire E.
Princess Academy is full of arousing drama, adventure, danger, romance, and friendship. It has valuable morals, and important life lessons. It is about a girl trying to find love, while battling with her duties to her family, friends, and most importantly herself. There is so much adventure in this book it is unthinkable. It has drama full of jealousy, exasperation, and inevitable suspicion. It is full of old friendships, new friendships, and even some unusual ones. Trust us if there was one book you didn't want to miss out on, this one is it!
Princess Academy by
Raegen R.
I think Princess Acadmey was an exellant book. I liked how it had some action ,but not a lot of action. I gave the book Princess Acadmey 5 stars , because I thought it was a great fairy tale book. One of my favorite part in the book is when the bandits come to the Acadmey to get the prince, but he wasn't there, and so the bandits stayed there and kept the girls hostage until their fanilies came and started fighting with the bandits. That was a really good part in the book. Then one of my least favorite parts was when they talked about Miri waking up and getting off her pallet. Another part I thought wasn't the greatest was when they talked about Miri and Peder sitting on the hill with their goats, that was a little boring. When reading this book and you hit a boring part just keep reading because it is worth it in the end.
The Ruins of Gorlan by Jake T., Cory V. and Cody S.
The book Ranger's Apprentice : Ruins of Gorlan, is a great book. In our opinion, this book deserves 5 stars. Ranger's Apprentice is an action adventure story with thrills and chills. Three Allies band together to chase down a deadly beast. John Flanagan's writing skills are tremendous. Ranger's Apprentice deserves five stars because of its suspense, action, adventure, and some realistic fiction. Ranger's Apprentice tells a flip-flop story of a boy named Will and his hardships of Apprenticeship. Will is Apprenticed to an expert Ranger named Halt. Halt never has a smile and always looks grim. The other side of the story is a boy name Horace which tells of his hardships of battleschool. Horace has to fight for practice with a blunt sword. Horace always gets picked on by three older boys. The trio of Halt, Will, and another expert ranger, chase after a beast who transfixes people with one stare. This book is the first of a three book series.
The Ruins of Gorlan by
John B.
We thought the book Rangers Apprentice was a amazing book. It had great detail to make a clear image of each chapter. My group have givin this book a five out of five for the cool battles and the charters so detailed its like know them. Are favorit part of this book is when they leave thier kingdom and go fight the exiled monsters with there archery skilles. We like this book so well some of us are reading the second one. This is the best fantisy books for the jr.high to read.
The Schwa Was Here by
Aaron B., Ashley A. and Gabby D.

The Schwa's fun antics kept kids wanting more of the crash dummy blow up fun. We enjoyed The Schwa bacause of its variety of themes, such as the struggle for belonging, finding your real friends and reaching out. We had no hesitation in reading The Schwa alll night long. Thunder from the Sea by
Tori G. and Chirs L.
The two of us have many different feelings about Thunder From The Sea. The Part that half of my group liked was the plot when Tom was the orphan and he found a family and a dog. Also, my partner liked the part when Tom fluttered down the steps. The part I don't like is when Toms found a family and than was taken away to another family. Also I don't like that Tom's parents died because of a illness.
Worth by Cody R. and Ryan A.
My partner and I gave Worth one star because the book was bad. The only good part of the book was the fight scene. The author could have put more detail into the book. Also the authopr could have organized the book a little more. The author could have talked about Ma and Da. Also the author could have greatly developed the characters more. We don't recomend this book for Jh High students.
Worth by Troy H., Jeremy L. and Zach S.
Our group gave Worth three and a half stars. We thought Worth was a good book. There was a lot of suspenseful moments in this book. Such as when Nathan Breaks his leg on a wagon wheel and becomes crippled. Another suspenseful moment was when John Worth and Nathan catch the fence cutters. This book also has conflict. John taunts Nate and the two men get into a disagreement and start to fight. These men overcome their differences to catch the fence cutters that ruin the windrows. We recommend this book to everyone. If you are a young child looking for a book to do a report on, or an adult with free time on your handsd, this is the book for you!
Yankee Girl by
Brooke S., Jennifer W., Jasmine E. and Melissa P.
Yankee Girl was a good example of what it was like whenever schools were dealing with integration in the 1960's. We believe this book deserves four stars because it showed us how African Americans were treated. We really enjoyed reading this book. It was educational, and yet at the same time it held your attention. This book showed how mature Alice was by showing how she handled moving from Chicago, IL to Jackson, MS . That is not an easy thing to do. Not only were the Southerners descriminating against African Americans, but they also descriminated against Yankees such as Alice. We strongly advise to whoever hasn't read this book, to read it. You won't regret it!
