Carson
I read Adam Canfield of The Slash. It was about this middle school boy who worked for the school newspaper a cub reporter named Phoebe wants to do a story on Eddie the jainitor. After a while Adam let Phoebe do the story when he read it he loved it and at the end it said now Eddie is working on Mrs.Marris's electric system in her office he's also remolding her bathroom. A old women named Mrs. Bloch left the school $75,000. Adam found out that Marris was having gold sinks and pipes in her bathroom. She said the money was used for general improvements.
Chicken Boy by
Ryan
Chicken Boy is about a boy named Tobin who's family is bad. When his mother died, his family took a blow. His dad gets mad with his grandma and thinks it's her fault his wife died. At school the boy has a friend named Henry who owns a chicken farm. His friend gets him involved with chickens. Read the book to find out what happens to Tobin. I liked this book because it is descriptive and you won't want to stop reading it.
Crooked River by
Sylvia J.
Crooked River is an exciting story that shows a lot about how discrimination was in the olden days. Rebecca and her sister, Laura's, dad brings a murderous Indian home from across the river. They are scared of him at first, but then they realize that he's not so scary. They have a trial about his murderous background. This is a great story that has many twists and turns. Once you start you won't want to put it down. It is a great adventure book that has a lot of moral decisions, and difficult situations. You'll never regret reading it.
Defiance by
James
The book I did for my book report is called Defiance. The book is about a kid named toby who meets a cow and treats the cow like a best friend. He tries to find the owner of the cow because the cow looks starving. He found the owner of the cow her name was pearl she was very elderly. Eventually at the end of the book pearls cow dies and they are so sad. I don't recommend this book to others unless you want to do a Rebecca Caudill test. I think the book was to sad.
Listening for Lions by
Emily
Listening for Lions is a good book. I highly recommend it for kids in 4th grade and up. It's kind of sad but very inspiring. I really feel badly for the main character because her parents are missionaries and they both die from influenza, then Rachel has to live with the mean Pritchards. Then she has to visit "the grandfather" in England. The author, Gloria Whelan, does a really nice job of being descriptive, and making you want to read more of the book.
Listening for Lions by Marisa
Listening for Lions is a book about a girl who lost her parents to influenza and had to replace a girl who died from it too. Rachel Sheridan was an orphan whose parents were missionaries in Africa. They were sent to make a hospital and treat the sick Rachel's dad was a doctor and her mom was a teacher. Rachel helped her parents around the hospital. One day her neighbors the Pritchard's and their daughter got influenza. They went to the hospital and where the daughter died. Rachel's parents then got sick and her mother and her father passed away. The Pritchard's took Rachel and told her to pack because they were going to replace their child with her because they looked the same with the same ginger hair (the girl's name was Valerie). She was to go to Valerie's grandfather to get his money and the house before he died. Rachel went to England and met Valerie's grandfather who liked birds and wanted to give to the Royal Bird Society.I liked this book because it is like you are in the book itself and it just pulls you in and you will not want to stop reading it. Also I enjoyed it because it pulled me in.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Ben
This story is about a toy china rabbit named Edward who could only think, not talk and was loved by a little girl named Abiline. He did not love her back and one night he was told a story about a princess who did not love. She was turned into a warthog and when the king went looking for her he saw the warthog, shot it and ate it. Edward did not know what the story meant. Then one day he was lost and found by another family and that happened over and over again until he finally learned what the story meant. He had not loved so he got punished for it.I thought it wasent that good because he didn't talk or move.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Edward
This book is about a little china rabbit and a girl named Abilene. He is alive, but gets thrown overboard by some mean boys. He sinks to the bottom of the ocean until he is fished out by a fisherman. And the fisherman lost him because there stubborn daughter threw him into the dumpster. This is a wonderful book I strongly recommend this. It is artistic and GREAT! I love it. If you do get this book I really think it would be good to read. It is interesting.

The Misadventures of Maude March, or, Trouble Rides a Fast Horse by Nick
Eleven year old Sallie March, and her 15 year old sister Maude, are on the run in the wild west in the 1800s. The orphans are traveling on their horse from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to find there long lost uncle in independence in Missouri. Maude is also wanted in several states for horse thievery, bank robbery, and murder. The sisters lives are starting to become very very rough. It is almost as though there being thrown in to one of those fiction cowboy stories Maude love so much. I would recommend this book to people who like action, western, and cowboys.
MVP*: *Magellan Voyage Project by
Jacob
MVP is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I really like it. The book is pretty much about a boy named Adam. Adam lives in an apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, a family room and one bathroom. One day after school Adam was on a school laptop. There was a prince that appeared named Prince Oh that is offering Adam an around the world trip. Adam takes that challenge. This would really help him because he lives in an apartment with only 2 bedrooms. Prince Oh said that if he went around the world in 40 days the prize was 4 million dollars. I recommend this book to whoever likes adventure books.
The Old Willis Place: A Ghost Story by Tom
There was a boy and a girl named Diana and Gorgie. They lived alone in shed. They would scare the caretakers away by playing tricks on them. One day a new caretaker came to the farm and he had a daughter named Lissa. She was 12 (the same age as Diana) she is very curious about the so called ghost living in a mansion nearby. When she gets to curious and wanders into the house strange thing start happening.
The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
by Elise
The Penderwicks is my new favorite book. It has action, adventure, romance and tons more. When the Penderwicks go on their annual Spring Break trip, they rent a different house than in the past. They are expecting Mrs. Tifton's guest house to be a cozy cottage, but instead they find the house of their dreams and lots of adventures. With Jeffery possibly going to military school, Rosalind finding the love of her life, Jane doubting her writing skills, Skye worrying about losing Jeffery and Batty dying to see Cagney's bunnies, there is no end to the madness. I would really recommend this stellar book for 6th graders. Its twists and turns make it hard to put down.
Princess Academy by Kiernan
High on the Slopes of Mount Eskel, Miri's family has lived forever, pounding a meager living from the stone of the mountain itself. Miri dreams of working alongside the others in the quarry, but she has never been allowed to work there—perhaps, she thinks, because she is so small. Then word comes from the lowlands: the king's priests have divined that the prince's bride-to-be—the next princess—will come from Mount Eskel. The prince himself will travel to the village to choose his bride, but first all eligible girls must attend a makeshift academy to prepare for royal lowlander life.At the school, Miri finds herself confronting both bitter competition among the girls and her own desires to be chosen. Yet when danger comes to the academy, it is Miri, her classmates—and the chance for the future that each of them is eager to secure as her own.I think that Princess Academy was a very good book. I would read it over and over again.
Princess Academy by
Rebecca
Princess Academy is a very interesting book. It was a like a classic fairy tale with a new twist because in the beginning she was a poor girl that something amazing happens to (she goes to the princess academy), just like classic fairy tales. Then she saves the day but right after that something bad happens and she saves the day again. And then the twist happens but I can't tell you what it is. That would ruin the whole story; I guess you'll just have to read it! I loved it I hope you do to.
The Ruins of Gorlan by
Shayaan N.
I think this book is amazing and all libraries should have it. Reading this book makes me itching for the next in the series. This book is about a boy named Will who lives in a world where when you come of age you become an apprentice to a master. The Schwa Was Here by Luke
If you want to read a book that is very sad this is the one for you. It has a nice ending and funny beginning. This is what it's about.Calvin Schwa was invisible. They say his eyes change the color the sky is. They say his shoes are as brown as the soil.Anthony Banano is telling the story. The Schwa got his name when his family came from the old country. Their name used to be Schwartz. Old man Schwartz greatest wish was to die in the new country. When he was standing in line at Ellis Island he had a heart attack when he was telling his name. “Schwa,” was all he said. That became his family name.Schwa's mother disappeared when he was five. There were several ideas about what happened to her. Some thought his mom went to the market one day and disappeared in the ten items or less aisle.

Worth by
Morgan
Review: Worth by A. LaFaye is a book about two boys who learn to work together even though they don't care for each other. The book takes place in Nebraska. One of the boys is Nathaniel. His dad owns the farm. Nathaniel was hurt in a bad accident and can no longer do farm work. Nathaniel's only other sibling died by choking on bread. Since Nathaniel can't do farm work, his father agrees to take an orphan to work on the farm. His name is John Worth. He is an orphan because his whole family died in a horrible fire. Nathaniel hates John Worth even though they need him to work on the farm. Meanwhile there's a fight going on between the ranchers and the farmers. Someone cut the fences on the farm, and let the cattle run through the crops. This meant that the farmer's crops were ruined and that they wouldn't have any money to work the farm or feed themselves. Read and find out how John and Nathaniel work together to stop the fence cutters. I didn't care for this book at all. It was hard to read because of the bad grammar. It was really boring and didn't keep me awake. However, I would recommend this book to kids who have to read the Rebecca Caudile books because its one on the shortest novels on the list.
Yankee Girl by
Allison
Yankee Girl was one of the best books I have ever read. If you want a book that is interesting in the beginning to the end this is the book for you. It is mainly about a girl, Alice Moxley who has to make a decision to be agents the blacks or be nice to them, or be like all the kids in her class and be really mean to a new kid that is black and be treated like she was before when she was the new kid. And this story has a lot of history about, Marten king Jr., Mobs of white against black, and Desegregation. This book is about doing the right thing or sticking with popular kids. You will enjoy this book.
